2017 begins with skincare and vanities alike....
January is already a spanking month for an influx of new products that I excitedly smooth, lather, pat, or spritz onto myself on a daily basis. Without further ado, let me plunge into these delicious bobs that all serve to make moi a prettier person than I was yesterday. (Not hard considering I'm a 4/10 most days.)
Fiji feels good! coconut lip balm*
If there ever was a lip product to symbolize summer, this would cut it very close. Cait of course is the one who brought it for me all the way back from Fiji itself. An authentic born and bred Fijian item. I am honored. In a nutshell- probably cos it CAN fit in a nutshell- it is a tiny pot of coconut smelling goodness and I will for sure be slathering it on when the rainy season is over. Preferably when I am also tanning my bikini body next to a sparkling blue ocean.
Guardian face masks*
Decorated with cute to death motifs of Ponybrown, a girl character that I love, its packaging basically scores 10/10 with me. I haven't used it yet. but I will be a happy girl when I do.
Etude House AC Clean Up Pink Powder Spot
Stephanie Villa AKA Soothingsista is to blame for this one. I saw this in one of her favourites videos and literally purchased one the next day, which makes it the first time I have ever gotten something after seeing it in a video. What persuaded me most was that she claimed it was a dupe for the Kate Somerville Eradikate Acne treatment- that is, a $50 bomb of a spot treatment product. But I have been in search of a really effective spot treatment (other than the likes of Oxy, Acneclear, and other drugstore-esque creams) and this one fits my bill quite nicely.
This is how it goes: use Q-tip to pat pink liquidy powder onto spot. Leave on overnight. The spot is dried up, head comes out, and shrinks within a few days. Plus plus PLUS point, it never irritates the skin around the pimple.
Also, weirdly, I kinda like its sulfur smell.
Laneige Water Sleeping Mask
A high note to end off our holiday overseas, M bought this for us (Em, Dorcas, I) at Changi airport's duty free counter. Possibly the most expensive item in my skincare loot, its' minty blue gel is only meant to be enjoyed once or twice a week. And BOY do I enjoy it. The mask doesn't magically make acne disappear but my skin does feel really hydrated and smoother after a night with it on. Makes for a great 'pamper' night, or before special events.
M&S Blush by Autograph perfume*
I was floored to receive this as a present because I have always wanted a perfume / body mist to wear, kind of like a signature scent. This one is super pretty in simple packaging with a slight pink tinge. 'Bergamot, cassis, raspberry, rose, amber, vanilla, musk' jump into the bottle and out comes a general sweet smell. Blush is a lovely stand in until I can get my hands on Innisfree's cedarwood perfume.
The Body Shop Mango Shower Gel*
Another tropical highlight. The mango smell is super strong when being used but it never lingers after hte shower is complete. However, that's not a big concern, and it's still pleasant to use this everyday to scrub ya'self squeaky clean.
